We got to hang out with The Dental Guys at the Voices of Dentistry Podcast Summit in Nashville, TN. We had a great time getting to know Jon and Wes and also talked about some very relevant dental topics. This podcast happens to strike the perfect balance of content and goofing off— much to the credit of The Dental Guys for keeping us in-line. Enjoy Part Two of our two-hour podcast with The Dental Guys!
The Dental Guys podcast is the brainchild project of Wes and Jon. Years ago Wes and Jon met at a continuing education event and immediately started a passionate on-going conversation about dentistry. This conversation never ended and instead expanded to become the basis for the podcast.
Jon is a 2006 graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine and has always wanted to excel in his dental practice. He has completed more than 1000 hours of continuing education including traveling abroad to train on dental implant therapy. Jon is passionate about research and evidence-based practice and is not afraid to question the routines that dentists get into over a career. You can often find him reading a journal during his lunch break.
Wes is a graduate of West Virginia University School of Dentistry in 2003 and University of Tennessee General Practice residency in 2004. He maintains a private practice and is an instructor and attending for UT Medical Center. Wes has attained fellowship status in the AGD and continues to train to learn advanced techniques. He has over 13 years experience with dental implant placement and complex restorations. Wes has always been on the cutting edge of technology in his practice and in his life and he brings this knowledge to the table on the podcast.
The Dental Guys podcast is dedicated to helping our fellow dentists take their clinical practice to the next level through discussing controversial and complex topics, reviewing dental research to see how it affects clinical practice, and sharing our combined experience as we learn together with our listeners.

Back in November (Episode 41) we had an aspiring young dental student (currently heading into his senior year of undergrad) named Brandon Evert. He's awesome and on a great track to a successful start of his dental career. We liked him so much that we decided to have him back for an update on his progress through dental school.
Brandon goes back home to Geneva, Chicago when he's not in school which prompted a slightly derailed discussion about the World Series. Justin proves that when you are a successful dentist (like Brandon Evert is going to be) you have no problem going to Game 4 of the World Series and throwing down $1,000 on a table at Cubby's... just to pre-game before the game itself. Oh, the life of a dentist.
He right in the middle of his educational career at Indiana University, expected to graduate in 2018. So, while he is by far our youngest guest to be on the podcast… He proved himself to be quite the budding dentist! Moody even grilled him over interview questions that they would ask while in the process of graduating or certified.
Fun fact: Brandon also follows another passion of his which is rock music. He plays guitar and provides vocals for his band, Chasing 401. They’re pretty cool, so definitely check them out on YouTube!
You may remember Erin Elliott, DDS from her previous episodes on Dentists, Implants and Worms back in June 2016 where she was in Rapid City doing a sleep apnea continued education course for Justin's staff. (Sleeping with Erin Elliott, Pt 1 and 2) Well, she's back this time via Skype from her home in Post Falls, Idaho! We've never said this to anyone else before... but Erin Elliott is our favorite guest. She may as well be called the "Queen of the Worms." How's that for an official title, Erin?
Enjoy, folks!
