What happens when Dr. John "The Worm" Landers and the Pasty Gangsta aka Renaissance Millennial, Jeffrey Smith, go rogue and interview the lovely ladies, Sarah and Kat, from CE Zoom? Well, find out by listening! But we'll give you a hint— there's not a whole lot of dental content. HOWEVER, we do talk about exactly what CE Zoom is all about and Sarah and Kat's story about how they came to be not only best friends forever, but also business partners! Oh, and then we discuss relevant topics such as Danica Patrick, ISIS merchandise and what goes into making a hip-hop music video (check this out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_iTceWp8KnM).

CE Zoom is a pretty handy tool for dental professionals who have always wished to offer continued education, but didn't quite know where to begin. CE Zoom will not only track, store, and remind you of your continuing education requirements, but it simplifies check-in procedures for CE courses and conferences, instantly generates continuing education certificates that will immediately be stored and saved never to be misplaced or lost again.

The Voices of Dentistry Podcast Summit 2018 was proud to use CE Zoom for CE credit distribution and registration.

Check out CE Zoom by visiting https://www.cezoom.com/ and let Sarah know what your goals are for offering continued education. If they don't currently offer something— speak up, and Sarah and Kat will brainstorm together and come up with a solution for you and your educational needs!

Is there ever such thing as relevant content on our podcast?  Sometimes, but this definitely isn't one of them.  Once again from the Voices of Dentistry Podcast Summit 2018, Justin is joined by an all star line-up of conversationalists— Drs. John Landers (The Worm), Mike Freimuth (The Nighthawk) and Flash Davies (The Flash).  After kicking things off with a shot of Fireball, these guys dive into some meaningful discussion of the use of bidets and going commando.  It's always a party when The Worm decides to show up— and this episode won't disappoint!  Enjoy, friends!

Kicking off the first day of the Voices of Dentistry Podcast Summit 2018 with Tiger Safarov, who is pretty the epitome of The American Dream.  What so many immigrants want in life is to come to America where they have the freedom to build something for themselves, for their own lives, for their families.  It's definitely not easy, but as Tiger has shown, if you have the drive and are willing to hustle 24/7, The American Dream isn't some far fetched idea.

Tiger’s journey in America began when he emigrated from his home country of Russia to the United States in 2005. At the start, Tiger began learning English while driving to work and singing along to Frank Sinatra. With a strong drive to succeed, he started in his early years working multiple jobs during the day and attending night classes at the local community college. A few years later in 2007, at the age of 22, Tiger founded Siegel Construction while pursuing his bachelor’s degree in Engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. Over the years, Siegel Construction became one of the premier dental and medical design-build firms in Chicago with the aspiration to continue growing throughout the Midwest.

In early 2015, Tiger successfully transitioned from Siegel Construction and today the company continues to thrive and achieve big goals. An entrepreneur at heart, Tiger is currently developing another startup in the dental industry.

ZenSupplies set out in the beginning of 2016 with a simple, yet bold mission: to forever change the dental industry through audacious innovation. And although we may be young, we couldn't be more excited about our chances of one day achieving it.

Our vision is to build an exceptional company with a vibrant soul where everyday, something special is being built. We dream of being a place where people genuinely love to work, and are always motivated to go the extra mile. Equally, we dream of building a product that our customers absolutely love - not just because it's "easy to use", but because of how it changes their lives. Clearly, we do a lot of dreaming here at ZenSupplies. After all, every great thing begins with a dream.

Upon graduation from the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry, Dr. Radz continued his education by completing two postgraduate residency programs. In the field of dentistry, this sets him apart because the residencies require an enormous commitment and considerable talent. In fact, his abilities as a dentist shined so brightly that he became the chief resident of both programs: the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at the University of North Carolina and the General Practice Residence program at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago.

He relocated to Denver in 1999 after practicing in Charlotte, North Carolina, for nine years. When he moved here, he immediately focused his practice on cosmetic dentistry and continued taking advanced courses to learn more. In 2008 and 2012, he was program chairman for the Academy of Comprehensive Esthetics annual meeting.

Dr. Radz has also developed a reputation as an excellent photographer. His photography is used by manufacturers and dental laboratories for promotion and education. Many photographs on this website were taken by Dr. Radz, and they feature patients of his practice. Dr. Radz’s photography has made the cover of several dental journals, including the Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Because of his long experience in cosmetic dentistry, Dr. Radz began to share his knowledge by teaching dental courses. For the last 20 years, Dr. Radz has lectured internationally on cosmetic dentistry. He has also served as an instructor for the Institute for Advanced Studies in Esthetic Dentistry, Ross Nash Seminars, and the Aesthetic Advantage programs. He was invited to become an instructor for prestigious Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Dental Studies. Dr.Radz is currently an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Colorado School of Dentistry in the Department of Restorative Dentistry, where he is helping with the cosmetic dentistry courses for third- and fourth-year dental students. He has been a trainer for dental manufacturers, to educate other dentists on how to use new materials and equipment properly. For the 10 years, Dr. Radz served on the REALITY Publishing Editorial Board, which evaluates new materials and equipment in dentistry, then publishes the results to help dentists and their patients benefit from the latest in dental technology. For the past 8 years he has worked with Catapult as a product evaluator and as a mentor to dentists looking to get into dental education.

Well vested in the professional dental community, Dr. Radz is an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association, Colorado Dental Association, Metro Denver Dental Society, and Colorado Prosthodontic Society. He is a sustaining member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) and a founding member of both the Canadian Academy for Esthetic Dentistry and Colorado Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. In 2004, Dr. Radz was awarded fellowships from the Academy of Comprehensive Esthetics and the International Academy of Dental-Facial Esthetics. Dr. Radz was recognized as Denver Top Dentists list in 5280 magazine for the year 2004, 2008-2016.

For Dr. Kate Gross, her father’s influence and mentorship guided her career choice. “Growing up in a ‘dental family’ I watched the relationships that my dad built with his patients and his patients’ families. I liked how he made a difference in their lives and their confidence levels.” Dr. Kate loves the challenge of general dentistry and the gratification of beautifying patients’ smiles. “There’s never a dull day in the dental office. Each patient and each tooth is different, and I love how dentistry pushes me to use my brain in unique ways to problem solve each day.”

One of the best parts of being a dentist is winning over kids and scared patients. She takes the task of being an advocate and trusted healthcare provider very seriously. “Going to the dentist should be an enjoyable, if not FUN, experience. I take it very seriously to make all of our patients’ first (and subsequent) appointments go smoothly, and the development of our relationship is a high priority to me. Being a trusted advocate for a patient through each part of the experience is one of the most rewarding parts of my days.”

Dr. Kate was motivated to go down the health care path, and at first thought that the best fit for her would be medical schoolan affinity for the medical field was always a driving force. She seriously considered being a medical doctor, but decided she’d rather be a dentist like her own father. “My priorities shifted – I didn’t want to be in school for eight additional years after college, and I didn’t want the pressure of life or death decisions.

“When I was young, I viewed dental care as going to see my dad! However, I hear each day from my patients that the dental office is a very intimidating place for many. I want to change all of that. It fuels my passion to get someone’s mouth healthy, all the while making them comfortable and changing their perception of dentistry.” I saw all the benefits that my dad had from being a dentist, I liked his lifestyle, and the way he could touch his patients’ lives and be a very hands-on parent during my own childhood. Today dentistry allows me to have a nice balance between professional and personal life, while satisfying my ambition to be in a health care related field.”

Dr. Gross earned her Bachelor of the Arts in Human Biology from the University of Kansas in 1998, and her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2002. She has continued to learn more about dentistry and patient care through continuing education in orthodontics and oral sedation. In fact, Dr. Kate has logged over 300 hours in orthodontic continuing education alone, gaining her Achievement status in the credentialing process through the American Orthodontic Society.

The dental group she has built with her husband, Dr. Guy Gross, is a source of pride and achievement. “There’s nowhere else I’d rather work than side-by-side with my husband, my father (2002-2013 when he retired), and my brother (2013 to present). “It is truly a family practice - one that was built on my family working together - and one that takes care of families at every stage of life experience. I like the variety, the fast pace, and the patients that I see grow and change throughout the years. The best part of my job is the deeply caring, highly skilled, and truly awesome professionals that I work side-by-side with. Aside from my family, these are the people that I spend the most time with, and I greatly value them and enjoy their company!”

When she’s not helping creating lasting beautiful smiles, Dr. Kate serves as a board member of DVACK, an organization that helps women and children get back on their feet after the devastation of violence and abuse in their home lives, and supports AMBUCs. She enjoys being outdoors; whether it is running, gardening, swimming, skiing, watching her kids’ play sports, or chilling on the patio—the great outdoors is her happy place. She loves spending time with her husband and their 3 children, and is blessed to have her parents, in-laws, and many extended family members living here in Salina to cultivate strong family ties. Given a year off to do anything, Dr. Gross says she would take the kids out of school and take an epic around-the-world vacation, living in and experiencing new cultures, foods, people, and places.

Randy Houska, from our previous episode #35, finally joined us in the Black Hills for some post-Sturgis shenanigans and troublemaking.  Turns out, an epic podcast was in-store.  I'd give you more show notes here, but unfortunately, things kind of went off the rails on this one!

Suddenly... an unexpected guest arrives!  Roger Plooster is Justin Moody's mentor, friend and educator from his days learning the ropes of the dental world in Western Nebraska.

Also, please note that we had about 8 shots of Fireball all lined up for us to take in the studio... Roger Plooster opens the door,  grabs one, shoots it, grabs another shoots it, and then looks around and asks if we have anything stronger.  Between Roger and Pasty, a full bottle of Jameson met its demise.
